Updates & Additions

Added a few pages to the site in response to reader requests. Thanks for taking time to comment and email. More updates coming soon!

Recent changes to trip plans:
Although it was the folks in Papua New Guinea that started this idea, PNG is now off the itinerary due to complications and changes with organization requirements and desires as well as the lack of funding. Vanuatu is also out of the tour, as the projects there are not ready to be started just yet. No worries for a lack of things to do, tho! I’ll spend most of September in Queensland, Australia working for a mission there.
Leave a month free and it’ll get filled - that’s what happened with my break month of December. I’ll now be flying to Africa a month early and spending December helping out in Uganda.

Thanks for your support. Just a few days till take off!

A Momentary Pause

In New Jersey for a bit now. The trip home was well worth it, full of visits with friends in Denver, Chicago, Michigan, and Ohio. Good times all around. I finally have my tickets and am working on the in-country travel details now. I’m still looking to raise $4000 in support before I leave for Sydney on September 5th. Here’s what has been spent (and how) so far:

Support raised from individuals and churches: $4800 -> Ticket ($4800 towards %5000 total)
Savings: $1200 -> Ticket ($200 towards $5000 total), Camera w/ basics ($1000)

The point of the digital slr camera is to allow me to create and update websites and other support material for those I visit.

Any questions about support or the trip in general, give me a shout. I’d love to talk with you or visit if possible while I’m still in the States. My cell phone is currently out of service, but feel free to email me at jlremaly @ gmail.com

Eastward!

After a quick visit in Denver, I drove to Chicago yesterday. I stood in the middle of my old college campus at midnight, staring up at the buildings now silently awaiting the end of summer. It’s quiet and empty, not at all like I remember it. It’s changed, and I realize how much I’ve changed too.

Tickets!

Tickets confirmed… only it’s apparently too early to buy tickets back to the US from Europe, leaving me in Europe with no ticket home as of yet. Maybe I’ll just stay.

Adding to the trip

Two months till take off, and I’m working on adding on to my trip. I have spent the last few days packing and sorting my belongings and readying my car for a drive east. I’ve decided to use this time to visit friends and supporters across the country before I leave. The “change subject to plan” is this: drive from Spokane to NJ via Denver, Chicago, Ann Arbor, and Toledo. If needed I’ll drive back to WA, otherwise I’ll fly from Newark to Los Angeles during the first week of September and leave immediately for Sydney. Adding this US tour will allow me to visit my supporting church in NJ as well.

Practicing Photography

Part of my desire for this trip is to provide missionaries and schools with updated photos and websites. I purchased a Canon Digital SLR and have been getting some good practice with it playing photographer for Shiloh Hills Fellowship’s Vacation Bible School. Click on the photo to see a few of my favorites.

Support Cards

I have had a few requests for support cards and have a design going to the printer this week. I apologize for the wait, I’ve had a fever for the past few days and am bit behind on getting things done! If you would like a support card sent your way, please leave a comment or drop me a line at jlremaly at gmail.com with your address and I’ll get one to you.

Further progress…

I am currently working with the folks at AirTreks to create a finalized itinerary. Funds still needed at this point before I can purchase the ticket are approximately $4500.
